A Labour of Love

by Robin J Hood

We are excited to share John Shields inspirational story with the world through A Labour of Love, now in pre-production.

John’s story will encourage people to link labour organizing with personal and global transformation. John’s stepdaughter, Nikki Sanchez Hood, with her international voice for decolonization and environmental sanity, will narrate the film and increase the film’s appeal to all ethnicities and ages.

With the ubiquity of online streaming services, we intend to use many distribution methods to ensure a broad reach for a variety of audiences – including broadcast television and a series of short documentary pieces. The film will appeal to people interested in the labour movement and social justice, and its youthful narrator will help draw in a younger audience.

The BCGEU has contributed generously to the film and we need another $60,000 to complete the project.

John believed there is a dynamic unifying principle in the universe and that we all carry obligations: to one another as peacemakers, to the environment as good stewards, and to the universe as agents of positive unfolding.

Please join us in continuing his legacy of moving love into action and contribute here.
