The LIFE CONTEXT and DEPTH CONTACT workshops were delivered by Bill Israel in the serene quiet of the Church of Truth Sanctuary in Victoria the weekend of November 17-20. In attendance were 15 participants who were genuinely engaged in the creation of a communal ‘sacred space’. Within this meditative ‘space’ each participant wrote uninterruptedly in three-hour segments, about their personal, private life journey.
The intimate IJ narrative ‘form’ follows a structured and facilitated Journal Workbook process for each participant. A private, communal setting allows every participant to meditatively ask – and answer – Where has my life been to now and where is it trying to go?
This double workshop weekend concluded the third consecutive year that the INTENSIVE JOURNAL (IJ) program has been offered in Victoria by Bill Israel, a certified Facilitator-Consultant for this highly renowned program.
Bill Israel also facilitates the INTENSIVE JOURNAL program for inmates at William Head Institution, a federal, minimum-security prison on Vancouver Island. This December marks the second consecutive year for this program at William Head.
As of December 7, 2017, forty inmates have successfully competed the 12-week program, offering volunteer participants an opportunity to privately examine their life narrative and how they can best prepare for a life after prison.
